Warren Civic Chorus Welcomes New Director

Dr. Dan Grimminger has been handed the baton as the Director of the Warren Civic Chorus, following four decades of leadership by our Director Emeritus, John Kurtz.

Dr. Grimminger earned a Ph.D. in Historical Musicology and a Doctorate of Church Music in Choral Conducting. He has taught at four Kent State University campuses, and has been a Director of Music for churches and volunteer organizations, most recently at the Kent State University-Trumbull Campus, and the Old Economy Singers in Pennsylvania. His Ph.D. studies emphasized eighteenth- and nineteenth-century music, especially J.S. Bach, and G.F. Handel. Additionally, he travels frequently, enhancing his academic preparation, including trips to Germany and Handel's birthplace. Dr. Grimminger’s great enthusiasm for this music and his ability to communicate that excitement to the musicians will mark this year’s rehearsals and performances.
